Five Tips for Your First Judo & Brazillian Jiu Jitsu BJJ Class

Starting Judo or Jiu Jitsu as an adult can be a challenge, but don’t worry. As soon as the class begins, those constraints will immediately disappear. You will make some great friendships as we conquer those challenges together.

1. Just Go with the Flow
At our school, we will be clear and direct from the start about our expectations from you. We guarantee pleasant and productive lessons every time you step onto the mats. We will make it as natural for you as possible.

2. Focus on What Matters
Keep in mind: true strength is gentle. You will discover the power of leverage and you will experience it the most when you are willing to give away your natural brute strength or any competitive instincts you may harbour. Women tend to learn techniques faster. Can you guess why?

3. Listen to Your Body
We have all started from the same point you are in now. And we took a few days or even weeks to get used to the new exercise routine. The only one capable to understand your body limits is you, so don’t be afraid to take a few breaks and communicate with us. Our instructors will advise you to go at your own pace. Expect a little workout pain in the following day – anything more means that you should maybe go slower on your next class, and progressively increase the intensity. We’ll be there every step of the way.
